UPM Hosts Courtesy Visit from APM, Strengthens Strategic Academic Collaboration

SERDANG, 30 March – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) today received a courtesy visit from a delegation of the Akademi Profesor Malaysia (APM), opening avenues for strengthened strategic collaboration in academic development and expertise.

 

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, said the discussion focused on strengthening the role of professors, advancing academic leadership and mobilising multidisciplinary expertise to ensure higher education institutions remain relevant and competitive.

 

“This collaboration is crucial in maximising the contributions of professors towards the development of the university and the overall progress of the nation,” he said.

 

The APM delegation was led by its Deputy President, Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Ridza Wahiddin, who also introduced the academy’s roles and current initiatives, while exploring potential areas of collaboration with the university.

 

 

Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Ridza said the visit aligns with APM’s aspiration as a body representing the perspectives and expertise of professors in the country.

 

“This visit provides an opportunity for APM to further strengthen and enhance the expertise of new professors, which can benefit both the society and the nation,” he said.

 

Also present were APM Assistant Secretary-General Prof. Dr. Rose Alinda Alias; Chairman of the Unity and Progressive Society Cluster, Prof. Dr. Sarjit Singh Darshan Singh; Chairman of the Food Security and Agriculture Cluster, Prof. Dr. Loh Teck Chwen; APM Director of Media Relations, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Shamala K. Subramaniam; and APM member, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Ali Hassan.
