SERDANG, 14 May - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the Makmal Perkembangan Kanak-Kanak (MPK) under the Faculty of Human Ecology (FEM), organised Hari Sukaneka Tahunan MPK 2026 as part of efforts to promote holistic child development through interactive and recreational learning activities.

The programme brought together children, parents, educators and staff members through a series of age-appropriate games and activities designed to encourage physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.

In addition to promoting active participation among children, the programme also strengthened relationships between educators, parents and children while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment through play-based activities.

Deputy Dean (Postgraduate Studies, Industry & Community Relations), FEM, UPM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zainal Madon, expressed appreciation to teachers, parents and organising committee members for their commitment and cooperation in ensuring the success of the programme.

“The level of preparation shown by the children reflects the strong cooperation and dedication of the teachers, parents and everyone involved in making this programme a success,” he said.

He added that programmes such as Hari Sukaneka Tahunan MPK 2026 are important in supporting the children’s development beyond academic achievement.

“Programmes such as this are important in supporting children’s intellectual, emotional and physical development through active and engaging activities,” he said.

Meanwhile, Programme Director, Syamilah Abd Wahab, said the programme plays an important role in supporting children’s holistic development through play-based and interactive learning activities.

“Through activities conducted during the programme, children are able to develop physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills while building confidence, communication and teamwork in a fun learning environment,” she said.

She added that the programme also supports the role of MPK in promoting active and hands-on learning approaches in early childhood education.

Among the activities conducted were children’s sports events according to age categories, parent participation sessions and group activities aimed at encouraging teamwork and confidence-building among participants.

The programme also provided opportunities for parents to become more involved in their children’s learning and developmental experiences outside the classroom.

Through programmes such as Hari Sukaneka Tahunan MPK 2026, UPM continues to reinforce its commitment towards holistic early childhood development and community-centred educational initiatives.
